the saboteurs

the saboteurs

in this photograph, i use myself to reenact the trauma of people who lived through the nigerian civil war. the story follows mr. ezeugwu, who lost his brothers after they were accused of being saboteurs. though they were igbos, their muslim faith made them targets of suspicion within their community when they returned home after the massacres in the north. the image reflects how faith, fear, and identity often collided in moments of national crisis. yet, in revisiting this pain, i imagine another nigeria; one that confronts its history with honesty and compassion. a country where difference no longer equals suspicion, and memory becomes a bridge instead of a boundary.
