Descaling of Fish

When I got back to Nigeria, I needed a NIN for everything: to unblock my SIM, register for NYSC, and reactivate my bank account. The process in Ede was too slow, so I went to Osogbo instead. They told me it would take a few days, so I stayed with my sister in Ido Osun. While waiting, I took a walk with my nephew and stumbled on an open field, more like a wasteland, quiet and forgotten. In the middle of all the stress and paperwork, that stillness felt like a small reminder that even when life feels stuck, there are moments that ask you to simply pause and breathe.

On a quiet afternoon in Ede, a lone goat stands still, calm, like it belongs to the land. I took this  photo just a few meters from the house my mother built, where I lived with my grandmother for  ten years before leaving Nigeria. I was on my way back from visiting her, something I always do  whenever I’m home. This moment felt like a small reminder that not everything changes, and a  sight I haven’t witnessed from my 7years away.
