In Lagos, life moves with a kind of restless rhythm, noise, hustle, horns, people always on the move. Yet, tucked between all of that are moments like this: still, quiet, almost invisible. I made this photograph on an ordinary street, where this man sat in silence, framed by the iron bars behind him. He wasn’t doing anything remarkable, just existing, maybe lost in thought, maybe waiting. And that’s what struck me. In a city where everyone is caught in their own survival, there’s a silent network of stories we’ll never fully know. It’s the kind of moment that reminds me of sonder: the quiet realization that every passerby carries a world as vivid and complex as mine. Lagos is full of those stories, layered beneath the noise. You just have to slow down long enough to see them.
