In Agboyi Ketu, Lagos, water is no longer a season; it is a condition of life. For over a decade, floods have shaped how people live, move, and survive. In this image, a young girl steps through the flooded street in her rain boots, a sight so normal now that it barely draws attention. Behind her, a woman opens her small shop as water ripples around her feet. Because if she doesn’t open, what will she eat? Here, survival isn’t dramatic; it is daily. Families have learned to live with water as their constant companion. Relocating is almost impossible in Lagos, where rent is beyond reach, so they stay. They rebuild, they work, they hope. To them, the flood isn’t just destruction; it is the background of their lives. Still, each dawn, they rise again, waiting for a day when the water will finally leave them in peace.
