This flower holds within its petals the passage of time and the promise of transformation. As the days unfold, the color gently fades to soft lavender, then to white, and finally to translucent. The essence of this bloom speaks to a longing that stretches from what was, into what is, and onward into what will be. It reminds us that we are part of the current of becoming.  Change is possible, evolution inevitable.

Yesterday‑Today‑Tomorrow Flower

To imagine a new Nigeria is to look at the bright side of our communities and repurpose them for a better future.  For this series I used the slum community and its young people as my case study. The slums and ghetto communities have an abundance of young talented people who are arguably an integral part of the country and its future. Despite the limitations placed on the young people from these communities, the energy of these young people never fails to prevail. The will to improve themselves and their communities which in turn impact the country as a whole. In 2019, I set out to two popular slum communities in Lagos called Oko Agbon and Makoko in Lagos Nigeria. These communities are at the centre of Lagos Nigeria and it was there that I created these images. Together with these talented young people, we projected new possibilities in the neighbourhoods looking at the bright side from the angle of Technology, education, music and modelling for good in connection to their existing way of life in the slum and the urban space. The flip side of this series highlights how importance High standard of living, low poverty rate and unemployment, high human development and technological advancement can transform our current Nigeria to another Nigeria. My Kubwa 

Purple Bay is a sunrise view of Tarkwa Bay from 2022. It inspired my first ever short story of the same name, in which two old friends reconnect over a sun-set picnic in a re-named Tarkwa Bay. It depicts a subtle vision of what it feels like to be free.

On the waters of Makoko, fishermen steer their canoes beneath the Third Mainland Bridge a meeting of Lagos’s past and present. Here, tradition flows beside modernity, and life on the lagoon endures in the city’s restless rhythm.
